Cinková Ivana
I am interested in mammalian communication and social behaviour and my research focuses on the behaviour and communication of southern and northern white rhinoceros (Ceratotherium simum, C. cottoni, respectively). The aim of my research is especially to assess the role of vocal and olfactory signals in the social and reproductive behaviour of rhinos. I have been conducting my field work in South African wildlife reserves and also in zoological gardens. Understanding communication in the white rhinos can be helpful in their conservation and management both in wildlife reserves and in captivity, where their reproductive rate is very low.
